Greetings in the Lord,
I cannot believe that GCC has been in existence for over 14 years. It felt like just yesterday when we
were a congregation of fewer than 40 people borrowing a church in the North Philly. Now, as you
are probably aware, we have three services, two of which meet in the heart of two of Philadelphia’s
major universities. But even more than locations, I am so thankful to Christ for lives that have been
blessed and transformed through GCC. Lastly, I am always grateful to the Alumni of GCC because it
was your service to Christ that has built this church to where it is now.
Five years ago, the Lord gave us the opportunity to plant a church similar to ours in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Journey Church of Atlanta (JCA), as it has come to be known, has been a success story and
a tremendous blessing. We are so thankful that God gave us the privilege to help launch JCA.
Now in the Fall of 2010, we are excited that the Lord is calling us to plant another church to reach
students and young adults. For a number of years, the Lord had been laying on my heart the need
for a church plant in Boston, and we believe that God is now opening the door for this venture.
Come June, Pastor Barry Kang - who has been serving with us at GCC for the past two years - his
family, and a still assembling team of GCCers will heed the Lord’s calling to go and make disciples of
the students in the greater-Boston area. As you may be aware, approximately one fifth of metropolitan
Boston’s population is students, so we feel that “the harvest is indeed plentiful”
I am so thankful that GCC has the great privilege and responsibility to plant another church in the
Boston area. Who could have imagined that God would bless us with two church plants in the last
5 years? I am writing to ask you to partner with us in this vision to birth a new church in the Boston
area. In the coming weeks, we will be sending information on the Boston church plant and ways
that you can get involved. In the mean time, we covet your prayers, and if you want more information
on the Boston church plant, please feel free to contact me at
pastoryoungkim@gracecovenant.com.
Sincerely,
Pastor Young Kim Grace Covenant Church
