Ekua Anane-Fenin

Ministry Description:

As a short term missionary to this camp, her duties include offering friendship and support to the disabled during meal times; running errands; and serving as a guide for the blind.

The camp meant a lot to her because it is an answer to a prayer she lifted up 9 years ago when Joni & Friends came on a mission trip to Ghana (where she is from). Please pray for patience and love and eyes that can see the beauty of God even in the disabled.

Fred Baik

Location: Asia

Ministry Description:

The missions group consists of eight college and high school students from the Los Angeles and San Jose areas. During this trip, they will be organizing and running three vacation bible schools (VBS), doing labor work, and going on prayer walks.

They see a great chance to develop meaningful relationships with the Asian people of the area, especially the children, as the team spends time with them during the VBS's. Deep personal relations will be crucial in this mission. In all, this trip hopes to bring the hearts of the unsaved (and the saved) closer to Him.

Jacqueline Richelieu

Location: Mendoza, Argentina
Agency: Campus Crusade for Christ
Trip Dates: May 15 - June 24

Ministry Description:

The focus of the ministry will be college campuses. Campus Crusade for Christ's ministry in Mendoza is fairly new; so, they will be continuing the work started there. Contact evangelism and discipleship will be a part of the trip. The team members will go through training once we arrive, and will maintain discipleship relationships with Crusade staff while they are abroad.

Prayer Requests:

-Pray for safety/travel/health

-Pray that God would prepare the hearts of those students they will be reaching in Argentina

-Pray that God would use the recent economic crisis facing the country to point to His ultimate sovereignty.

-Pray that our team would be bold in sharing our faith.

-Pray that God would soften my heart as well as the hearts of my fellow team members.

Jendy Yon

Location: Harlingen, Texas & Matamoros, Mexico
Agency: Summer Medical Institute
Trip Dates: June 24 to July 27

Ministry Description:

She has been blessed with the opportunity to attend the Summer Medical Institute. It is a medical mission trip stationed in Harlingen, Texas serving that local community as well as those in Matamoras, Mexico. As part of a team of volunteer medical students, physicians, and other healthcare providers, she will be going door-to-door giving health screenings and providing spiritual surveys to share the Gospel as the opportunity arises.

Jennifer Yeh

Location: Guatemala
Agency: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
Trip Dates: June 23 - July 14

Ministry Description:

She will be meeting her team of twenty students in Dallas, Texas on June 23, 2002 to fly to Guatemala and will return onJuly 14, 2002. Jennifer will spend the first week in training, as she lives in Guatemalan homes scattered throughout the town of Antigua.

The following two weeks, she will partner with a mission organization, Students International, to serve in their various long-term community development programs. These could include participating in after-school sports clinics, helping teachers in special education classes, visiting local prisons, helping physically disabled children in local hospitals, or other community programs.

They hope to share God's love in the relationships we develop. She is praying that her experience in Guatemala will teach her how to love others better, how to share the Gospel more boldly, and broaden her perspective of God's world.

Juliet Lee

Location: Inner City Philadelphia

Ministry Description:

This summer Juliet will be participating in Gateway, which is a Philadelphia urban mission program with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. The Gateway program is a 6-week program where she will be doing non-profit work with a company in the Philadelphia area She will also be living in community with the other people who are participating in Gateway.

Kristin Wong

Location: East Asia
Agency: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
Trip Dates: June 29- August 13

Ministry Description:

There are very few Christians where Kristen and her team is travelling. As a team, she hopes to reach the people with the saving message of the gospel through an academic environment.

Each of her team members will be paired up with a local student who is studying English. Her roommates will be her main focus as she learns to relate the Good News to the hopes and fears of Asian students. Mornings and early afternoons will be spent tutoring our roommates in English and doing cultural presentations. Late afternoons will be free for hanging with her roommates, getting to know the city, and rest.

Since she cannot do overtly Christian activities, Kristen expects to learn even more about how to convey Christ through her actions.

1. Strong relationships to be built with her counterparts;
2. That her team would model a love-saturated, multi-ethnic Christian community
3. A growth in prayer for the city and its people.

Lori Dean

Location: Venezuela
Agency: Campus Crusade for Christ
Trip Dates: June 18 - July 11

Ministry Description:

The Venzuela Summer project will consist of helping college students form student-led Christian fellowship groups on their campuses. Venezuela is a small country on the northeast coast of South America. The country has 17 universities and 47 colleges. Because of CCC's work, the number of student Christian organizations around the world is growing exponentially.

Sing Ai Lee

Location: North Africa
Agency: Campus Crusade for Christ
Trip Dates: May 20 - July 10

Ministry Description:

Sing Ai will be going with a team from Penn and other campuses to spend 6 weeks reaching out to students in North Africa. This is a student exchange program where she will make friends and share her life together. She is excited because she feels very drawn to missions.

Sing Ai is seeking confirmation for God's call on her life. She desires to be a missionary, but wants to make sure it is not only fleshly enthusiasm that is driving her, but a deeper call from the Holy Spirit.

Young Ann Chu
